Jurgen Klopp career

The next day, Klopp was in charge of their first game. Mainz 05 beat MSV Duisburg 1-0 at home on that day.
Klopp went on to win six of the first seven games he was in charge of. The team ended up in 14th place, just one game above the drop zone.
In 2001–02, Klopp’s first full season in charge, Mainz finished fourth in the league. He used his favorite pressing and counter-pressing tactics to get them there, and they just missed getting promoted. In 2002–03, Mainz again finished in fourth place, and again, goal difference kept them from getting promoted on the last day. [14] After two disappointing seasons, Klopp led Mainz to a third-place finish in 2003–04. This was the first time in the club’s history that they got to play in the Bundesliga.

Even though Mainz had the lowest budget and the smallest stadium in the league, they finished 11th in their first season in the top division (2004–05). In 2005–06, Klopp’s team again finished 11th and qualified for the UEFA Cup, but they were knocked out in the first round by Sevilla, who went on to win the cup. [30] Mainz 05 was relegated at the end of the 2006–07 season, but Klopp chose to stay with the club. But the team didn’t get promoted the following year, so Klopp quit at the end of the 2007–08 season. At the end, he had 109 wins, 78 draws, and 83 losses.
In May 2008, Borussia Dortmund asked Klopp to take over as their new manager. Even though German champions Bayern Munich were interested, Klopp ended up signing a two-year deal with the club. Under the previous manager, Thomas Doll, the team had finished in a disappointing 13th place. Klopp’s first game as manager was on August 9, when his team beat Rot-Weiss Essen 3–1 in the DFB-Pokal. In his first season with the club, Klopp won the 2008 German Supercup by beating the German champions, Bayern Munich. In his first season in charge, he got the team to finish sixth. The next season, Klopp got Dortmund into Europe by getting them to fifth place, even though they had one of the youngest teams in the league.
