Peter Dinklage (GOT): Bio
Peter Dinklage was born on June 11, 1969, in Morristown, New Jersey, U.S. He is an American actor who is probably best known for playing Tyrion Lannister on the HBO show Game of Thrones. Tyrion is a kind, smart dwarf who likes to party (2011–19).
Dinklage was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism caused by an abnormality in the cells that make bones in the growth plates of long bones like the femur and the humerus. He started acting at a young age and went to Bennington College in Vermont. He had a charm that made people want to be around him.
After Dinklage graduated from Bennington College in 1991, he and a classmate moved to the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn and started a theater group based on the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. The project didn’t take off, though, and Dinklage had to support himself by acting in Off-Broadway shows and working at different jobs during the day. He wouldn’t take parts that made him look like a certain type because of his height, and in his first big-screen role, the 1995 independent film Living in Oblivion, he slams the way Hollywood treats dwarfs.

Even though he did a good job in Living in Oblivion, Dinklage couldn’t find an agent who would work with him. Dinklage was cast in the comedy 13 Moons after Buscemi suggested him to the film’s director, Alexandre Rockwell (2002). Later, he was asked by a theater website what his dream role would be.
